Product Description
Fast, efficient, comfortable and fun, this is no garden variety corkscrew! It will extract a cork in as few as three seconds from all sizes and types of wine bottles. Not only will it pull those really resistant corks, it also works on fragile, disintegrating corks.

Amazon.com Review
Enjoying a glass of fine wine shouldn't begin with fishing out that old souvenir opener from the back of the kitchen drawer. Instead, Metrokane's Rabbit corkscrew offers an intelligent design backed by well-built materials to swiftly and gracefully open any wine bottle. Operation is incredibly simple: just place the neck of the bottle between the two ear-shaped arms, then lift the lever on top and the cork comes right out. Crafted of hardened polycarbonate metal and reinforced nylon, the tool is made to hold up to heavy use, and ergonomic padding on the lever keeps it comfortable. With its smooth, velvety black finish and unique shape, the Rabbit manages to look industrial and sleek-sure to draw attention at social gatherings. The tool also comes with a foil cutter and an extra spiral worm. All pieces are packaged in a padded gift case. Metrokane ensures the corkscrew with a 10-year warranty. --Kara Karll

5 out of 5 stars Well worth the price!   February 24, 2010
Tara L. Devlin (San Francisco, CA)
Absolutely love my Rabbit! It open bottles with ease... The included foil cutter cut cleanly, leaving no mess. The corkscrew itself fits easily and effortlessly over the mouth of the bottle and two swift arm movements have your cork out, cleanly and smoothly. It's even simple to then remove the cork from the screw. I honestly don't know how I got along for so long without this!

Got to back up others who have had problems with this product. If only I'd read them first. At least I only spent $20 on it. Some say 'worked fine for 25 bottles, then trouble,' or 'broke after xx many bottles opened.' Not me. It's never broken, and never consistently worked from the beginning. Sometimes it still does. MY particular issue is one many describe, though not all: the 'worm' goes in just fine, then the worm pulls out just fine, leaving cork in the bottle. I've never had one push the cork into the bottle, and when it DOES pull the cork out (maybe half the time, probably less..), I don't have trouble getting the cork off the device. And I have plenty of strength for the process. It's just -- more often than not, worm goes in, worm comes out, and cork is sitting there in the bottle, laughing at me, and the useless hole I just drilled through it. At that point I get out the old double handled job, which has never failed. I may just toss this one into the next 'stoop sale' or 'Goodwill' box. Having totally given up, but a product which worked less than half the time from the very first is definitely one that NO ONE should EVER buy!

3 out of 5 stars buy the newer Metrokane VERTICAL Rabbit INSTEAD   September 13, 2009

This corkscrew was a nice first design. However, it's really huge, and it isn't flawless. The same company has developed a new version called the Metrokane VERTICAL Rabbit. That opener is nearly flawless. It's much smaller, and it is even easier to use. You can read my review on the vertical rabbit. It's truly great. Plus, the vertical rabbit comes in a few different color choices. Don't bother with the normal rabbit anymore IMO.

2 out of 5 stars works great until it doesn't   July 4, 2009

This is a wonderful product initially. It's easy to use and the cork just slides out effortlessly. However, the screw that it uses soon wears out. This can happen in as little as 3 to 6 months or so depending on how much wine you drink. I assume that the teflon coating wears off or the tip dulls. In any event, it then becomes increasingly difficult to use until it starts pushing the cork in the bottle. They throw in one extra screw, but additional ones are outrageously priced--$10 on Amazon. Nice margin for the manufacturer. There were at one time Chinese knock-offs in the marketplace that had the same characteristics, but at least they were cheap, $10 or 15 if I remember correctly. This product costs a lot of money for its short lifespan.
